The Nursing/Health Care Education Certificate (NHCE) is a four-course, graduate-level
program for health care and nursing professionals pursuing careers in an educational or service
setting. Novice educators will acquire a solid foundation in the strategies needed to
effectively design, evaluate and teach health care curriculum in today's educational
environments. Experienced educators can update and expand their knowledge and skills to
reflect the latest theory and revitalize their teaching technique. Content can be applied to
patient teaching, in-service education, community health training, continuing education, or
academic education.
The NHCE program will explore the trends and issues impacting today's health care educator,
including current theory, practice, and technology, as well as legal, ethical and regulatory
issues. Participants will examine instructional design in terms of different learning styles.
Participants will also study various techniques for the assessment and evaluation of learning
outcomes.
Upon successful completion of this program, participants will be awarded a professional
certificate and 12 college credits that will apply toward the completion of a graduate
degree. (Note: This program is only open to post baccalaureate students.)
